Learn 文房具(ぶんぼうぐ) or 文具(ぶんぐ) stationery items in Japanese.

文房(ぶんぼう) is a ‘study’ and  is the kanji for ‘tool.’

The word 文房(ぶんぼう) originally comes from China. The kanji means a ‘room’ (房) for a writer, a ‘literary person’ (文人(ぶんじん)), which lead to 文房 meaning ‘study.’  In Japan, a study is typically called 書斎(しょさい)
