When you forget your umbrella:

(かさ)をさす
put up an umbrella

Oh no, I forgot my umbrella at the restaurant.

Oh no, I forgot my pocket umbrella at the restaurant.

Prepping with rain gear:

(みず)たまりがある
There’s a puddle.

(おお)きな(みず)たまりがある
There’s a big puddle.

レインブーツをはく
wear rain boots

(すそ)(よご)れないようにレインブーツをはく
wear rain boots to prevent the hems from soiling

■ カッパを()
wear a poncho

カッパを()自転車(じてんしゃ)()
wear a poncho and ride a bike

Rainy season and nature:

(しずく)()ちる
a drop falls

(しずく)がぽたっと()ちる
a drop plops

■ あじさいが()
the hydrangeas bloom

毎年(まいとし)あじさいが()
The hydrangeas bloom every year.

■ カタツムリがはう
the snail crawls

カタツムリがのそのそとはう
The snail crawls slowly.

太陽(たいよう)が出る
the sun comes out

「やっと太陽(たいよう)()た」
The sun is finally out.

(にじ)がかかる
a rainbow appears

「あっ、(にじ)だ!」
Look, it’s a rainbow!

Wishing for good weather:

■ てるてる坊主(ぼうず)をつるす
hang a teru teru bozu (a good weather charm)

てるてる坊主(ぼうず)(まど)につるす
hang a teru teru bozu (a good weather charm) by the window

■ 「明日(あした)()れますように」
