【 アポロ (apolo) 】”Apollo” by Meiji
The adorable triangular strawberry-chocolate was born in 1969, the same year that Apollo 11 landed on the moon. For both, this year is their 50th anniversary. Congratulations to アポロ for being a long-seller for half a century!
The Apollo spacecraft is, in fact, the model for the chocolate, but the name アポロ was inspired by the Greek god, Apollo, much earlier in the development stage.

Do you know the アポロ fortune-telling game that kids play?
If you can separate the strawberry and chocolate parts in your mouth with your tongue, without biting it, you’ll have a good day! When simple things like this made us giddy and happy.

If you’re a アポロ fan, you can download wallpapers from their website. And if you’re feeling crafty, you can even make a ランドセル (Japanese school bag) out of アポロ boxes!

Coincidentally, the “Apollo 11” documentary film, fifty years in the making, is now in theaters in the US. For all of us outside of the US, we’ll have to grab a box of アポロ and watch the trailer.
