【 石鹸 (せっけん)・sekken 】soap

Most 銭湯 (せんとう sentō) public baths don’t supply any toiletries so don’t forget to bring your own soap and shampoo.

あ、石鹸(せっけん)忘(わす)れた!*
(a sekken wasureta)
Ah, I forgot to bring soap!

ボディソープ借(か)りてもいい? *
(bodīsōpu karitemo ii)
Can I borrow your shower gel?

ボディソープ (bodīsōpu) = body wash, shower gel

But not to worry, they usually sell soap and shampoo at the front desk, or there may have a vending machine.

Make sure you rinse off all the soap suds squeaky clean before you dip into the bath.

*The particle「を」 that comes after the object is commonly left out in conversations to sound more natural.
